Home jet tubs can provide a relaxing place for family members to get away. They are a luxury item in any home. They may not seem so luxurious, however, when they are marred by a ring of soap scum. Then it's time for some elbow grease and cleaning supplies. Following a few simple steps will have your jet tub spic and span again in no time.
Instructions
- 1
Empty any water from your jet tub.
2Use a commercial bathtub cleaner recommended for removing soap scum or a commercial cleaner expressly made for use on whirlpool or jet tubs. You also can try powdered dishwasher soap and a little water.
3Use a soft rag, and test the cleaner on a small surface. Wipe the cleaner on with rag and take a few strokes. Make sure the cleaner and rag do not mar the finish on your tub.
4If you are satisfied the cleaner will not harm the finish on your tub, use the cleaner and rag to scrub off the soap scum all around the tub. Be careful not to get the cleaner inside the jets.
5When you are finished scrubbing, run water from the faucet and rinse the scum remover solution from the walls of the tub. Empty any soapy water from the tub.
6Fill the tub up with hot water, at least 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Use a food thermometer to check the temperature. Make sure the tub is filled high enough so the water is above the jets.
7Add one cup of bleach. Turn on the jets. Let them run for 15 minutes.
8Drain the tub. Fill the bathtub again, this time with cold water. Turn the jets on again for another 15 minutes to rinse out any leftover cleaner or bleach.
9Drain the tub a final time.
