How to Clean Marble Countertops

Marble is a unique and beautiful building material, and when incorporated into kitchens and bathroom countertops, it can add a particular charm. If marble countertops are properly maintained, they will continue to look charming for the life of the home.

Instructions

    1

Wipe marble countertops regularly with a plenty of warm water and a few drops of mild liquid dishwashing detergent. Rinse it well, as soap can leave a residue on marble countertops.

    2

Clean marble countertops with a solution of baking soda and water. Combine 4 cups warm water with 3 tbsp. baking soda. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and wring out the excess. Wipe the solution on the marble countertop and allow it to remain for at least 2 hours, then wipe the countertop with clear water and dry it with a soft cloth.

    3

Shine a marble countertop with some water and a piece of white chalk, such as you would find with a child's chalkboard. Just dampen a soft cloth and dip it into a piece of finely crushed chalk. Rub it on the marble countertop with overlapping strokes, and let it dry for about a minute before rinsing with fresh water. Dry the marble countertop with a soft, dry cloth.
